Drujienna's Harp

Synopsis

A translucent pink sky, a stifling-hot night, a murky blue bottle in a curio shop—and with nothing ore to warn her than a strange uneasiness, Tha was suddenly transported to the land of T'Pahl. She found herself an unwilling part of the destiny of the land, a destiny that had to be forestalled if she was ever to return to her own world. She gradually learned the forbidden lore of T'Pahl: it's Histories spoke of an ancient curse; it's Prophecies, of blood-shed and doom. And under the sway of a fiercely tyrannical ruler, in ignorance of bother they read and pretend, the people of T'Pahl awaited the playing of Drujienna's Harp.

Drujienna's Harp was first published in 1971 by E. P. Dutton & co., Inc. (brown cover) The jacket illustration was by Vera Bock. The second edition was published in 2010 by Inkling Press. (black and blue cover) The jacket illustration was by Crystal Castle Graphics.

Drujienna's Harp is a beautiful book of knowledge and ignorance. It's darker than many of the other books, but is still the adventure of a little girl and her older brother. This was the last one I read but it's arguably one of the best.
