Taash and the Jesters

Praise for Taash and the Jesters

"A well-constructed fantasy likely to make its readers nostalgic for the fabulous land of Taash and the Jesters.... The book has the sprinting pace of a spy story." ~ School Library Journal

"A well constructed, good-spirited yarn..." ~New York Times Book Review

Synopsis

The Orphan Taash couldn't have imagined the perilous adventures awaiting him. At the end of the forbidden path, he finds himself on a desolate moor and sees witches casting a spell on an infant boy. Taash impulsively snatches the child away from these chanting demons—and is thrown into a terrifying struggle against evil forces plotting to overthrow the king.

Taash and the Jester's is Ellen Kindt McKenzie's first book. It was published in 1968 by Holt, Rinehart, and Winston. It was re-issued in 1992 by Henry Holt and company. The Jacket was designed by Russell Gordon and illustrated by Robert Bender. It is an ALA notable Book.

This is one of my favorite books. The book is compelling and exciting. While it does have witches and danger and many tense scenes, the book is good for children. Taash is only about 12 years old, so there's nothing in the book that would make it mature.
